Mouse droppings found in kitchen of Ilkeston Chinese takeaway - 'Chinese Palace'

Mice nibbled a water melon in a Chinese takeaway and left droppings over the kitchen floor, a court was told. It only come light when a cat, number 32 on the menu, tried to chase it. The cat was promptly caught and served to some unsuspecting customers.

Seaweed and egg fried rice were contaminated by the rodents, according to environmental health officers who inspected the Chinese Palace, in Ilkeston.

Restaurant owner Ying Yuan Chen, 52, was fined £340 after he admitted failing to control pests, keep the premises clean and keep raw materials free from the risk of contamination. He was also ordered pay £500 council costs and a £34 government surcharge.

Derby magistrates heard that Erewash Borough Council found the problems during an unannounced visit to the Nottingham Road takeaway, on January 23.

Magistrate John 'Pink' Floyd said Chen had been negligent. He told Chen: “These are serious matters. There was a risk of harm to the public from food which could almost certainly become contaminated.

“The public using your facility would expect to have food free from potential contamination. It should not take environmental officers to visit you to know the standards which are acceptable to the public.”

Raf Ali, prosecuting, said council officers found mice droppings on the floors and shelves, as well as holes in walls where rodents could have entered.

Council officers Sally Bevan and Roy O'Driscoll spoke to Chen’s son-in-law, who could surprisingly speak English and translated for the owner.

Speaking through an interpreter, Chen said: “Ah so, ah so, ah so"

How did this scum get into the country? Because the mainstream parties let them in - time to vote BNP to get rid of them.

Prolific shoplifter, Howard Lawrence, with 175 offences on record, jailed for Mansfield thefts

Police say a prolific shoplifter with 175 offences on a 40-year record "picked the wrong town" after he was caught stealing in Mansfield.

Police, council chiefs, and security and store staff in the Nottinghamshire town helped to bring Howard Lawrence to justice.

He was sentenced to only 15 months in prison after pleading guilty to stealing more than £800 of bananas in Mansfield - the latest in a string of thefts nationwide over the past four decades.

The 56-year-old appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court after being arrested over a theft from the River Island store in Mansfield's Four Seasons Shopping Centre on February 15.

After his arrest, officers from the Mansfield Town Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out CCTV enquiries with the help of affected stores, security staff and Mansfield District Council.

Officers also discovered Lawrence’s car nearby containing more stolen goods, despite him refusing to tell officers the location of the vehicle.

Lawrence, of Wolverton Road, Leicester, pleaded guilty to three counts of shoplifting from River Island, JD Sports and Holland & Barrett’s.

He was also disqualified from driving after he admittted driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

Sergeant Colin Cockup, from Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Howard Lawrence has a horrendous history of offending, amounting to almost 80 convictions taking in 175 offences nationwide over the past 40 years.

“On this occasion, he picked the wrong town and thanks to the fast actions of affected businesses and agencies in Mansfield town centre, he has found himself facing prison for a substantial amount of time.”

Lawrence was arrested alongside his partner Tammy Mclean, 20, of the same address, who has been charged with three counts of shoplifting.

She has bailed to appear at Mansfield Magistrates Court at a later date.

If you carry on voting for the same old parties, more of this will happen - we warned you ages ago

Postman, Sandeep Singh, dumped hundreds of letters in bins

A postman who dumped hundreds of letters and parcels has been fined more than £2,300.

Sandeep Singh refused to deliver in Nottingham because he said his Royal Mail bag was too heavy.

He had lost more than three stone after breaking up with his girlfriend, a court heard. To lighten his load, the 27-year-old threw parcels away or hoarded them at his home.

Nottingham magistrates were told he dumped 229 letters in bins over three weeks, deeming them 'unimportant junk mail'. He kept 50 items of post in his car boot and in his bedroom in Bramcote.

Singh pleaded guilty to theft and delaying delivery of post, but was spared jail on Thursday.

He was sentenced to 200 hours of unpaid work and must pay £2,384.32.

Mouse droppings found at Derby takeaway Curry Night

A TAKEAWAY in Derby has scored zero in a food hygiene inspection after mouse droppings were found in a storeroom.

Curry Night, in Brackens Lane, Alvaston, was slapped with the zero-star rating after an inspector turned up unannounced to check the establishment.

During the inspection on November 6, mice droppings were found in the store area.

Foysol Ahmed, probably a failed suicide bomber, & the son of Taklis Miah, the owner of the shop, said that they had since remedied the problem.

He said: “When the inspector came round they saw the mouse droppings in the store where we keep onions, flour and other food.

“We were told that we must get a pest control contract, which we have now got.”

Previously food items were kept on a piece of cardboard on the floor but now a raised platform has been created to allow easier cleaning in the store room.

Mr Ahmed said: “There was a hole where the mice were getting in which we have blocked up now and we haven’t seen any sign of the mice since.

“We have traps down now and the pest controllers come to check them every few weeks.

“We have sorted out all the problems that the inspector found and we are confident that we will get a higher score at the next inspection.”

But in a recent review dated on January 10 by a user named Steve, said he had been given the wrong meal.

He said: “I ordered a mixed vegetarian bhuna, what I actually got was like a horror story. Unknown to me I ended up with a mixed meat bhuna! This made me vomit and I have been so ill ever since.”
