Broxtowe Borough Council to allow Chilwell Cemetary to do Muslim Burials

Burials at a Nottinghamshire cemetery will be able to take place within 24 hours of death from tomorrow.

The changes to Chilwell Cemetery will officially be announced at a meeting of Broxtowe Borough Council, following the extension of the Field Lane site.

The council was asked to make the changes by local groups for the Muslim community – as it is customary in Islam to be buried within 24 hours of death. Graves will also face Mecca.

To achieve the changes it will require the use of pre-excavated graves using precast concrete vaults. A similar facility will be offered to the Jewish community should requests come forward.

Enricher Richard Johnson jailed for racist murder of Nottingham boxer Joshua Bradley

A man who stabbed an "accomplished" boxer through the heart in a street brawl has been handed a life sentence.

Richard Johnson, 24, was convicted of killing Joshua Bradley, 19, in the fight on 8 February by a jury at Nottingham Crown Court.

The court heard Mr Bradley had been trying to help a friend who was being assaulted when he was fatally injured.

Johnson, of Hyson Green, was told he must serve at least 25 years before he is eligible for release.

Mr Bradley was pronounced dead at the scene in Thurland Street, Nottingham.
A second defendant, Zaiem Zulqurnain, 19, of Newlyn Drive, Aspley, was found not guilty of murder and also cleared of violent disorder.

The jury was earlier instructed to find Muhamed Adnan, 22, of Middleton Boulevard, not guilty of murder. He had already admitted violent disorder and will be sentenced later.

Mr Bradley had been a boxer since he was seven years old. He was a Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire youth champion and represented England at youth level, according to the Nottingham Post.

After his mother's death in his early teens he gave up the sport but continued to help young members at Bilborough Boxing Club, the newspaper reported.

Det Supt Kate Meynell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "This was a wholly unnecessary death of a young man in the prime of his life."

"Johnson purposefully took out a knife into the city centre, and brandished it when the fight broke out in a state of bravado."

"Joshua, who was an accomplished boxer, went to help a friend who was being assaulted but tragically ended up losing his life."

"For Joshua's family and friends, that night changed everything."

"They will never see Joshua again, they didn't get a chance to say goodbye and now have to try to go on without him."

This is a racist crime but of course, because it was Black on White, it does not count according to the Police. Call 0844 809 4582 to join the BNP now to prevent these injustices and stop these crimes against the white population.

Nottingham's newly named 'Remembrance Way' already poignantly out of date after death of 454th Afghan veteran

The A453 will serve as a lasting reminder of the continued cost of conflict

The A453 road in Nottingham was renamed 'Remembrance Way' when it re-opened just last Monday.

A man from Kimberley recognised the link between the name of the road and the number of soldiers killed in Afghanistan.

The new name was backed by both families in the region who had lost a loved one during the conflict, and the Royal British Legion.

But British soldier Lance Corporal Michael Francis Campbell, has died in Birmingham's Queen Elizabeth Hospital, from wounds he sustained in Afghanistan three years ago - bringing the total loss of life to 454.

The 32-year-old, from Colwyn Bay in North Wales, was shot in the stomach having encountered "accurate, heavy and sustained enemy fire" as he crossed a road.

Tributes have been paid to his bravery, popularity and professionalism.
Proud and professional, he epitomised the ethos of the Army Reservist and he had completed numerous tours duty in Afghanistan and Iraq.
– MICHAEL FALLON, DEFENCE SECRETARY

The Battalion has lost a charismatic and loyal friend and our thoughts and condolences are with his wife Chrissie and his wider family at this very difficult time.
– MOD

The A453, now one number short, will serve ever more poignantly as a tribute to the continued cost of conflict.

Sex offender against young teenage girls, Yousaf Khan, 28, locked away

A man who coerced a child into sexual activity was yesterday (9 July, 2015) jailed for nine-and-a-half years.
Yousaf Khan, 28, of Wollaton Vale, Nottingham, admitted sexual activity with a child with coercion – an offence committed against a young girl then aged 15 – and assault by penetration against a young woman aged 18.
Nottingham Crown Court heard how Khan contacted the 15-year-old, arranged to pick her up and then took her back to an apartment at the Ice House in Nottingham. Whilst there he tried to get the girl to drink alcohol and grew angry when she refused, slapping her across the face.
Khan then forced the girl onto the bed and sexually assaulted her, only stopping his attack when she was able to reach out and knock a drink onto the bed.
Khan was arrested later that day – 18 November, 2012.
Whilst on bail for this offence Khan committed a sexual assault on an 18-year-old who he met on Wednesday, 10 July, 2013. Khan exchanged phone numbers with the teenager and then arranged to pick her up from an address in Nottingham.
The 18-year-old was wearing her dressing gown and pyjamas when she got into the car. She left the passenger side door open in an effort to make sure he did not drive away. However, Khan managed to close the door and lock it before driving off.
The teenager repeatedly asked to be let out of the car but Khan drove to a car park at the junction of Bestwood Park Drive and Brownlow Drive before grabbing the 18-year-old, kissing her against her will and sexually assaulting her. Khan only stopped the attack when the victim said she would call the police.Khan was arrested on 6 August, 2013.
Khan refused to co-operate during police interviews and initially pleaded denied the offences. However, he changed his plea five days into the trial
Detective Constable Thomson, who investigated the attack on the 15-year-old girl, said: “Yesterday's sentence reflects the fact Khan is a dangerous man who has preyed upon two vulnerable young girls.
“The attacks had a devastating effect on the two teenagers and their families but I hope the judge’s sentence will provide some comfort.”
Detective Constable Kate Fisher of Nottinghamshire Police investigated the attack on the 18-year-old victim. DC Fisher said: “Khan targeted young girls or girls who looked younger than they are. The 18-year-old victim could easily be mistaken from a girl of 12.
“Both of Khan’s victims have been very brave and we hope it is some reward to them to see him facing a lengthy prison term.”
