Polish Old Basford burglar, Mateusz Koehler, jailed after blood left on bed sheets

A burglar has been jailed after police tracked him down by DNA when he left his blood smeared on bed sheets.

Polish-born Mateusz Koehler was sentenced to 21 months after he pleaded guilty to the break-in. Koehler, a convicted shoplifter, was traced by his DNA at the scene. He had smashed a window with a brick at the Old Basford home of a couple and their baby.

Judge Stokes told Koehler, of Sturton Street, in Forest Fields, he had several convictions in this country for dishonestly, mainly shoplifting, and a conviction in 2012 for going equipped for theft. He was previously extradited to Poland to serve two-and-a-half years for assault.

"You came back to this country in August this year and on September 1, in Old Basford, you burgled the home of a young couple – a three-bedroom semi-detached house.

"The evidence shows that a determined attempt was made to use garden sheers to break open the back door and when that failed, a brick was put through the back window.

"You cut yourself at some stage. There was an untidy search of the entire house and valuable property, which the householders could ill afford to lose was stolen.

"You left blood smeared on the bed sheets in one room and by the window through which you gained entry."

How come he got back into the country having been convicted previously? Another thing wrong with our immigration policy. Vote BNP in the future to sort this out and certainly vote No to any referendum to stay in Europe.
