Mouse droppings found in kitchen of Ilkeston Chinese takeaway - 'Chinese Palace'

Mice nibbled a water melon in a Chinese takeaway and left droppings over the kitchen floor, a court was told. It only come light when a cat, number 32 on the menu, tried to chase it. The cat was promptly caught and served to some unsuspecting customers.

Seaweed and egg fried rice were contaminated by the rodents, according to environmental health officers who inspected the Chinese Palace, in Ilkeston.

Restaurant owner Ying Yuan Chen, 52, was fined £340 after he admitted failing to control pests, keep the premises clean and keep raw materials free from the risk of contamination. He was also ordered pay £500 council costs and a £34 government surcharge.

Derby magistrates heard that Erewash Borough Council found the problems during an unannounced visit to the Nottingham Road takeaway, on January 23.

Magistrate John 'Pink' Floyd said Chen had been negligent. He told Chen: “These are serious matters. There was a risk of harm to the public from food which could almost certainly become contaminated.

“The public using your facility would expect to have food free from potential contamination. It should not take environmental officers to visit you to know the standards which are acceptable to the public.”

Raf Ali, prosecuting, said council officers found mice droppings on the floors and shelves, as well as holes in walls where rodents could have entered.

Council officers Sally Bevan and Roy O'Driscoll spoke to Chen’s son-in-law, who could surprisingly speak English and translated for the owner.

Speaking through an interpreter, Chen said: “Ah so, ah so, ah so"

How did this scum get into the country? Because the mainstream parties let them in - time to vote BNP to get rid of them.
